Lagos Government To Begin Eight-Month Rehabilitation Of Lekki-Ajah Corridor

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to commence an extensive road rehabilitation project along the Lekki-Ajah corridor beginning Saturday, November 15, 2025, and running through Wednesday, July 15, 2026, a span of eight months.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the government said the project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance road quality and ease traffic congestion along one of Lagos’s busiest routes.

Osiyemi revealed that the work will be carried out in two major phases to reduce disruption for commuters and businesses, with preliminary preparations already underway.

Phase 1: Lekki 1st Toll Gate to Lekki 2nd Toll Gate
The first phase will cover seven sections of the expressway. During construction, one lane will remain open while work continues on the other. Upon completion, the project will switch lanes to maintain traffic flow. Osiyemi assured that motorists traveling toward Lekki and Ajah will continue to have passage throughout this phase.

Phase 2: Lekki 2nd Toll Gate to Ajah Under-Bridge
The second phase will involve four sections of the road, with temporary traffic diversions implemented. Vehicles moving from Ajah to Lekki will be restricted to one lane while work proceeds on the other. The commissioner noted that movement toward Ajah will remain unhindered.

The government appealed to residents for patience and cooperation, emphasizing that the short-term inconvenience will result in long-term benefits for all road users. “Motorists are advised to follow traffic directions and cooperate with traffic management personnel deployed along the corridor,” the statement read.

Osiyemi added that the rehabilitation aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision for sustainable urban mobility and infrastructure renewal across Lagos.

This project follows the government’s ongoing rehabilitation of the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway, which began in September 2025, covering the stretch from Admiralty Way Junction to the Jubilee Bridge in Ajah.
