Law enforcement in Lagos State captured three individuals suspected of cult-related activities following a strategic raid in the Imota district. The operation was launched on Wednesday after authorities received reliable reports regarding criminal actions within the community.
Officers identified the detained suspects as 37-year-old Jelili Adeyemo, accused of serving as the group’s armourer, along with 42-year-old Bisoye Adewale and 60-year-old John Okeafo. Investigators linked the men to the Aiye Confraternity.
The police seized a significant cache of weapons, including a Beretta pistol, a locally manufactured firearm, seven Dane guns, and various ammunition. Other items found included a stun gun, handcuffs, and several cutlasses. Authorities noted that the Beretta belongs to a fugitive suspect known as Mayibone.
The suspects have since been processed through the court system and are currently being held. CP Tijani Fatai, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, stated that the agency remains dedicated to eradicating violent cult activities. He further encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior to their local stations to bolster security.
