Lafarge Africa Rebrands to HBM Nigeria Plc

Lafarge Africa Plc has rebranded to HBM Nigeria Plc, signaling a new strategic direction while maintaining its commitment to Nigeria’s infrastructure and industrial development.

Lafarge Africa Plc has officially transitioned into its new corporate identity, HBM Nigeria Plc. This strategic change follows a shift in the company’s shareholder structure and marks a new phase in its development as a premier provider of building solutions within the country.

According to Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, the Group Managing Director and CEO, the name change will not impact ongoing operations or employee roles. The company intends to maintain its focus on manufacturing cement, concrete, and aggregates while supporting Nigeria’s infrastructure and housing sectors. The transition process will be rolled out gradually across all national operations to ensure business continuity for stakeholders.

Chairman Gbenga Oyebode noted that the board supports this evolution, viewing it as a move to sustain long-term growth and uphold the values that have characterized the firm for decades. Minister of Works Dave Umahi attended the unveiling ceremony, praising the company for its history of reliability and high-quality construction materials.

HBM Nigeria Plc is a subsidiary of the Huaxin Building Materials Group, a Chinese firm established in 1907. The company maintains a significant presence in Nigeria with a production capacity of 10.5 million tonnes per annum. Operations span multiple states, including Ogun, Gombe, and Cross River, with additional facilities in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.
