France captain Kylian Mbappe has publicly supported his national team colleague, Ousmane Dembele, after the Paris Saint-Germain forward faced scrutiny for his performance against Senegal in the World Cup opener.

Addressing the press before France’s upcoming match against Iraq on Monday, the Real Madrid forward emphasized Dembele’s quality and standing. Mbappe noted that he reviewed the previous match footage twice and felt Dembele was the strongest performer in the attacking line during the first half.

Mbappe highlighted that Dembele’s movement was instrumental in the team’s success, noting that he created crucial space by drawing in defenders, which directly led to the opening goal. He concluded by asserting that the squad remains fully confident in Dembele’s abilities, referring to him as a Ballon d’Or winner.
