Community leaders and traditional rulers in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have expressed their gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the establishment of a new Nigerian Army battalion in Omu-Aran. During a welcome event for the troops led by Lt.-Col. Kehinde Avoseh, stakeholders noted that the military presence is expected to significantly boost regional security.
The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, promised the community’s full backing, emphasizing that residents will provide unwavering support for the welfare of the soldiers. He also thanked military leadership for choosing the town as a base for the battalion, noting it as a step toward regional development. Local government chairman Abdulazeez Yakub and Omu-Aran Development Association President Prince Niyi Adeyeye both affirmed their commitment to assisting the army as they perform their duties.
Brig. Gen. Nicholas Rume, commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, acknowledged the warm welcome from the community. He explained that the battalion’s deployment aligns with the federal government’s broader initiative to enhance the operational footprint of the Nigerian Army nationwide.
