Konyaspor, a team in the Turkish Super Lig, has initiated discussions with Nigerian footballer Chidozie Awaziem, as reported by DAILY POST. Awaziem is anticipated to depart from the French side Nantes this summer after the team’s relegation in the previous campaign.
Turkish publication Spor Depor indicated that Konyaspor aims to sign the former Leganes player. Awaziem has previous experience in the Turkish league, having played for both Caykur Rizespor and Alanyaspor. During the latter part of the 2018/19 season, he appeared 16 times for Rizespor while on loan. Additionally, the 29-year-old participated in 22 matches for Alanyaspor during the 2021/22 season, netting one goal.
Konyaspor concluded their last season in ninth place within the Super Lig and suffered a 2-1 defeat against Trabzonspor in the Turkey Cup final.
