Gunmen have killed the son of a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and abducted his wife in Mararaba, a community in Nasarawa State, neighboring Abuja.

According to Daily Trust, the minister, Ifeji Ausin Oha, was attacked by heavily armed bandits in his home at Gwagwalade, Mararaba, in the early hours of Monday, February 9.

Reports indicate that after suffering machete cuts from the attackers, Ifeji managed to escape, but they abducted his wife.

During the attack, the kidnappers shot his son, Augustine Onyechisoka Evans, as he tried to defend his mother. They also inflicted more machete cuts on him in front of his siblings.

After killing the son, the attackers abducted the pastor’s wife and later demanded a ransom of N30 million for her release.

“The boy is the only son of his parents as he has four other females,” a source said.

“He did not like how they were manhandling his mother and confronted the kidnappers and they shot him.”

Spokesperson of the Nasarawa State Police Command, SP Rahman Nansel, said the command was not aware of the incident.

Meanwhile, the deceased will be laid to rest on February 19, 2025 in their hometown, Mgbidi Enugu State.
