Kenneth Okonkwo Recalls Defending Peter Obi Amid Ongoing Legal Dispute

ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo discusses his past support for Peter Obi amid a new lawsuit filed by the former presidential candidate against him.

ADC leader Kenneth Okonkwo has brought up his past defense of Peter Obi during a period when the former presidential candidate faced harassment in Edo State. This exchange follows an Anambra State High Court ruling that allowed Peter Obi to serve legal papers to Okonkwo using alternative methods after standard attempts failed. The court indicated that these documents could be posted at Okonkwo’s previous home in Nsukka, Enugu State, or left with an adult present there.

This legal conflict stems from claims made by Okonkwo, who accused Obi and certain NDC officials in the South-East of demanding extra payments from individuals seeking National Assembly tickets. Okonkwo also claimed that Obi finalized candidate lists while staying at an Abuja hotel. In response, Obi’s lawyers sent a demand for a formal apology, a retraction on social media and television, N5 billion in damages, and a promise that Okonkwo would stop making such claims.

During an interview on Channels Television, Okonkwo was asked if he would attempt to reconcile with Obi. He declined, stating that he had previously stood up for Obi when his life was threatened by the governor of Edo State. Okonkwo expressed frustration that despite his past support, Obi has chosen to pursue legal action against him.
