Rabiu Garba Aiki of APC Secures Zuru Constituency Seat in Kebbi Bye-election

The APC candidate Rabiu Garba Aiki has won the Zuru State Constituency bye-election, maintaining the party’s control over the seat in the Kebbi State House of Assembly.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) successfully held onto the Zuru State Constituency seat in the Kebbi State House of Assembly after Rabiu Garba Aiki emerged victorious in Saturday’s bye-election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed Aiki as the winner following the final vote count at the Zuru collation center.

Professor Muhammad Bashar Danladi, the Returning Officer from the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, reported that Aiki secured 4,871 votes. This result placed him significantly ahead of Aliyu Galadima Muhammad from the Labour Party, who received 168 votes. Records show that out of 109,385 registered voters in the constituency, only 5,156 were accredited. Officials noted 5,055 valid ballots and 95 rejected votes.

This electoral process was organized to replace the late Mohammed Usman Zuru, the former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly who represented the Zuru constituency. Despite reports of a peaceful atmosphere, voter participation was notably low across various polling stations. The APC consistently maintained a dominant position throughout the tallying process, effectively keeping its grip on the legislative seat.
