Kebbi Governor Orders Urgent Reconstruction Of Flood-Ravaged Makera-Kangiwa Road

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has ordered the immediate reconstruction of the Makera-Kangiwa road, a vital route connecting the state to Niger State, after it was severely damaged by recent flooding.

During a visit to the collapsed section in Makera on Wednesday, the governor described the road as “a strategic economic artery”, essential for both local travel and cross-border trade with neighbouring countries.

“This administration will not rest until critical infrastructure is restored and expanded. Our people deserve the dividends of democracy,” Governor Idris declared.

His Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, said the Ministry of Works had been instructed to engage a competent contractor without delay.

Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar-Muslim, confirmed that the selection process for contractors had begun.

“The governor’s directive is clear—no delays, no excuses,” he said, promising swift action to ease the hardship faced by affected communities.

The road’s swift restoration is expected to boost regional mobility, trade, and economic recovery across border communities in Kebbi and beyond.
