Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has declared that all state indigenes earning first-class honors from any higher institution in Nigeria are now entitled to immediate government employment. The governor unveiled this policy during the closing ceremony of the Katsina State Students’ Week hosted at Bayero University Kano.
This initiative seeks to bolster the civil service by integrating high-achieving talent. Radda noted that he previously piloted this policy at local institutions like Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, but is now widening the scope to include any Katsina student nationwide starting this academic year. The governor anticipates that this strategy will cultivate a highly effective and productive public workforce over the next decade.
Beyond employment, the administration is prioritizing educational reform by settling scholarship arrears and raising bursary allocations. Governor Radda highlighted progress in reducing the number of out-of-school children, the hiring of over 10,000 new teachers, and the ongoing rehabilitation of school infrastructure. In response, Prof. Haruna Musa-Muhammad, the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, lauded the governor for his commitment to student welfare and academic advancement.
