Kano Sends 588 Students Across 15 States For Third Term Break Under Exchange Programme
The Kano State Government has successfully conveyed 588 students to 15 northern states as part of the Students Exchange Programme marking the start of the 2024/2025 third-term holiday.
This development was announced on Thursday in a statement by Balarabe Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Kano State Ministry of Education. The students, both boys and girls, were transported to participating states under the initiative.
The receiving states include Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Taraba, Yobe, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Gombe, Borno, Niger, Plateau, and Kwara. Kano itself is among the 17 northern states involved in the programme, which aims to foster national unity and cultural understanding among students.
Auwal Muhammad Mustapha, the ministry’s Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, emphasized that Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration had ensured all logistical and financial provisions were in place to guarantee a smooth and secure journey for the students.
He lauded the Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Makoda, for his unwavering support for the initiative, stressing its importance in strengthening regional ties.
Mustapha also expressed gratitude to parents and other stakeholders for their cooperation, which he said has made the programme more impactful and beneficial to all involved.
