Kano Pillars Football Club has announced the immediate suspension of Technical Adviser Ogenyi Evans and Chief Coach Ahmed Garba over the team’s disappointing start to the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The decision, made on Monday, October 20, 2025, follows a poor run of form, with only two wins and two draws against four defeats in their opening eight matches.
Former club captain and Assistant Coach Gambo Muhammad will now lead the team in the interim, supported by Goalkeeping Coach Suleiman Shuaibu and Coach Garzali Muhammad from the Junior Pillars setup.
The shake-up comes after a 2–1 loss to newly promoted Barau FC, despite Rabiu Ali putting Pillars ahead early in the match.
Adding to their woes, the NPFL recently imposed strict sanctions on the club after crowd trouble during a home fixture against Shooting Stars. The punishment includes a three-point and three-goal deduction, a ₦9.5 million fine, and a 10-match home ban to be served behind closed doors in Katsina.
With nine games played, Kano Pillars sit at the bottom of the table in 20th place. The club’s management expressed gratitude to fans for their continued support and assured them of efforts to revive the team’s form.
