JMG, a firm specializing in electro-mechanical systems, is urging a tighter alliance between the government, corporate sectors, and schools. The goal is to provide Nigerian youth with advanced capabilities that foster innovation and boost long-term economic stability.
This initiative coincides with the 2026 World Youth Skills Day, an annual event emphasizing the necessity of training younger generations in fields such as artificial intelligence, digital literacy, and green technology to navigate the modern labor market.
Gloria Ibeziako, the Chief Human Resources Officer at JMG, highlighted that fostering a competitive future necessitates intentional funding for education and deeper ties between industrial players and academic institutions. Ibeziako remarked that national prosperity is tied to the expertise of its citizens. She added that as technology evolves, students must gain proficiency in problem-solving and collaboration to remain globally relevant.
While recognizing that automation changes job roles, Ibeziako suggested it also opens doors for those dedicated to lifelong learning. She encouraged companies to move beyond mere hiring, suggesting they participate in mentorship and hands-on training to resolve the disconnect between academic theory and workplace requirements.
