Jigawa Police Apprehend Suspects in Theft and Vandalism Cases

Jigawa State Police have arrested several suspects for vandalism, burglary, and cattle rustling, successfully recovering stolen electronics and livestock in recent operations.

The Jigawa State Police Command recently executed successful operations resulting in the detention of individuals accused of vandalism, burglary, and livestock theft. According to SP Shisu Lawan Adam, the police spokesperson, these arrests occurred on July 8 following focused intelligence gathering.

Three teenagers—Aminu Mohammed, Abdullahi Mustapha, and Sani Umar—were taken into custody for dismantling electric cables near a hotel in Dutse. Authorities noted that some individuals involved were identified as buyers of the stolen goods. In a different incident, Dutse police captured 23-year-old Suleiman Muhammad from Kano, who was found with a PlayStation 5 and two plasma televisions worth approximately N2.5 million. These items have been returned to their owners.

Furthermore, officers from the Guri Division, supported by local vigilantes, detained a cattle rustler. Three stolen cows were discovered at the suspect’s residence and subsequently returned to the owner. State Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna A. Yahaya, praised the force for their effective work and thanked the public for their ongoing cooperation. He encouraged citizens to keep reporting suspicious activities to local police stations.
