Jeremie Aliadiere predicts 2026 Ballon d’Or winner, excludes Mbappe and Kane

Jeremie Aliadiere claims Lionel Messi is the frontrunner for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, dismissing the chances of Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane due to a lack of major titles.

Ex-Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere has expressed his doubts regarding Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane as potential winners for this year’s Ballon d’Or. Instead, he believes Lionel Messi is the favorite for the accolade should Argentina secure victory in the World Cup final.

Aliadiere argued that despite Mbappe’s strong individual performance, his lack of silverware with Real Madrid hinders his chances. He noted that the criteria for the prestigious award typically prioritize team success alongside personal statistics. Similarly, he believes Kane’s path to the trophy closed once England exited the tournament.

Regarding the Inter Miami star, Aliadiere remarked that a World Cup title would likely overshadow Messi’s current club status. He suggested that voters would be so impressed by the Argentine’s longevity and performance on the international stage that his time in the MLS would become secondary.
