Jarvis challenges Ycee over comments labeling content creators as uneducated

Content creator Jarvis has hit back at rapper Ycee’s comments regarding the ‘olodo uprising,’ arguing that young Nigerians turn to digital careers because of the country’s lack of formal employment opportunities.

Social media personality Elizabeth Amadou, widely recognized as Jarvis, has pushed back against rapper Ycee’s recent critique of what he termed an “olodo uprising” in Nigeria. Ycee previously suggested that the nation is increasingly celebrating ignorance and superficiality. In response, Jarvis argued that the rapper’s perspective ignores the country’s difficult economic climate.

Jarvis asserted that many content creators possess degrees but have turned to digital work due to a lack of formal job opportunities. “I finished my education, but there are no jobs provided by the government,” she stated, questioning what else graduates should do to survive. She further emphasized that choosing to work online is a legitimate way to earn a living rather than a sign of low intelligence.

The TikTok creator also defended her partner, Peller, against Ycee’s remarks, stating that everyone contributes to different digital subcultures and should not be judged for it. Jarvis concluded by highlighting the importance of social media platforms in providing a financial lifeline for young Nigerians, thanking developers like Elon Musk for the tools that make this possible. The public debate continues, with opinions split on whether Ycee was criticizing societal values or attacking the career choices of young influencers.
