Jarrod Evans heads back to Cardiff after stint with Harlequins

Jarrod Evans has returned to Cardiff after three seasons with Harlequins, with the fly-half looking to add to his 17 Wales caps and bolster the club’s URC play-off ambitions.

Welsh international fly-half Jarrod Evans has rejoined Cardiff following a three-year spell with Harlequins. The 29-year-old, who has earned 17 caps for Wales, returns to the United Rugby Championship side aiming to bolster his international prospects.

During his initial tenure at the Arms Park, Evans made 126 appearances, tallied 765 points, and secured the 2018 Challenge Cup. His time at Harlequins, which began in 2023, saw him play 48 matches while competing for the starting role alongside Marcus Smith. Evans noted that his time away helped him grow both personally and professionally by stepping outside of his comfort zone.

Cardiff head coach Corniel van Zyl expressed confidence in the acquisition, noting that Evans will provide healthy competition for the number 10 position alongside Callum Sheedy and Ioan Lloyd. Van Zyl highlighted Evans’s evolved balanced playstyle and his potential to influence the team’s culture as they prepare for the Champions Cup. Evans is the latest addition to the squad, following the arrivals of Le Roux Malan, Scott Sio, and Semisi Paea.
