Jamie George addresses Saracens teammate’s conduct following nightclub dispute

England rugby captain Jamie George has spoken out against the behavior of his Saracens teammate Totoa Auvaa following a nightclub altercation involving cricketers Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson.

Saracens rugby player Jamie George has condemned the actions of teammate Totoa Auvaa, labeling his behavior at a nightclub as unacceptable. The incident, which took place on June 8, also involved England cricket stars Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson.

George, serving as England’s interim captain, described the 21-year-old Samoan forward as a young man struggling to adjust to life in London. While George acknowledged Auvaa’s immaturity and lack of experience, he emphasized that the team must provide better guidance to ensure he understands appropriate conduct.

Despite the controversy, Saracens concluded their internal investigation by opting against formal disciplinary action, affirming their continued support for the academy player. This decision contrasted with the England and Wales Cricket Board’s proceedings, which resulted in written warnings for Stokes and Atkinson after they violated team curfews. The cricket investigation cleared the two cricketers of involvement in the violence, noting that Atkinson was subjected to unprovoked aggression.
