Iran Rejects Nuclear Inspection Pledges Following Switzerland Talks

Iran disputes US claims of a breakthrough, stating no agreement was reached regarding inspections of nuclear sites damaged by previous American airstrikes.

Iran officially stated that no firm agreements regarding its nuclear activities were established during recent discussions with American officials in Switzerland. This stance persists even as the head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog maintains that facility inspections are expected to proceed.

Esmail Baghaei, a spokesperson for the Iranian foreign ministry, clarified on Tuesday that there are no current plans for UN personnel to audit nuclear locations that sustained damage from US airstrikes last year. These remarks directly challenge assertions made by US Vice President JD Vance, who previously suggested that the Swiss negotiations resulted in a commitment to grant inspectors access to those specific sites.

Technical representatives are currently refining the logistics of the potential agreement, following primary discussions held Monday between JD Vance and Iranian parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf.
