The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially concluded the third phase of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) initiative. By the end of this latest period on July 26, 2026, 3,867,997 additional Nigerians had finished the registration process.
When combined with the previous two phases—which saw 2,572,054 and 3,748,704 sign-ups respectively—the total number of new registrants has reached 10,188,755. Before these names are integrated into Nigeria’s existing database of over 93 million voters, INEC will perform a de-duplication sweep to eliminate any double entries.
Data released by the commission shows that physical centers were the most popular method for registration, capturing nearly 70 percent of all applicants. Kano State led the country with 330,906 completed registrations, followed by Lagos with 181,254 and Delta with 166,895. Other significant contributors included Edo, Sokoto, and Ebonyi. Conversely, Ekiti reported the lowest numbers, while the exercise remained suspended in Osun due to local election laws.
