Imo Police Command Launches Comprehensive Investigation into Actor Young C’s Allegations Against Anti-Narcotics Unit Operatives
The Commissioner of Police for Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has instructed the Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing the IGP X-Squad to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations made by Young C Entertainment against operatives of the Command’s Anti-Narcotics Unit and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri.
In a viral video, Young C recounted that on October 11, he and his crew traveled from Port Harcourt to Owerri for a movie shoot.
Due to security concerns, they were advised to use prop money while filming. After the shoot, they were stopped and searched by members of the Anti-Narcotics Unit, who discovered the prop money.
Young C claimed the officers arrested them and demanded N1.5 million for their release.
Despite explaining that they were actors using prop money, he said the officers ignored their claims and took them to their office, where they were held in a cell for 24 hours.
He reported that the officers seized their phones and prevented them from contacting family members, lawyers, or their production crew.
Eventually, his lawyer intervened, but the police demanded N300,000 for their release, which both Young C and his lawyer refused to pay.
Young C further alleged that many Nigerians are being detained in the unit for trivial reasons and called on the IGP to investigate the officers involved.
He also threatened to pursue legal action against those who unlawfully arrested him and his crew.
In a statement, the state police command spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, confirmed that the Commissioner of Police has ordered an investigation and assured the public that any officer found guilty will face appropriate disciplinary actions in line with Force regulations, with supervising officers also subject to sanctions.
‘’Meanwhile, the complainant and his film production crew are encouraged to report at the IGP X-Squad, Owerri to assist in the investigation process. The Imo State Police Command remains committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens.” Okoye said
