Identities of 36 Students Held by Kidnappers in Borno State Revealed

Government Day Secondary School in Borno State has officially listed the 36 students who remain in captivity following a recent militant attack during NECO examinations.

Authorities at Government Day Secondary School in the Askira/Uba region of Borno State have published the names of 36 pupils currently detained by suspected Boko Haram militants. This follows a violent raid on the facility this past Monday during the National Examinations Council (NECO) assessments, which resulted in the death of a faculty member and a mass abduction.

School records indicate that the missing group consists of 25 girls and 11 boys. The breakdown by grade level includes one student in SS3, 17 in SS2, and 18 in SS1. This official list helps clarify the impact of the incident as families anxiously wait for updates while security forces work to locate the victims.

Although early estimates suggested 43 individuals were taken—specifically 41 students and two teachers—security personnel have successfully recovered seven people, including two teachers and five female students. Local councillor Jagila Jabula confirmed that the current roster was created through cooperation between school administrators and the affected families.
