Hearts are on the verge of hiring Wouter Vrancken to fill their vacant head coach position. The 47-year-old Belgian tactician recently departed his hometown team, Sint-Truiden, following a historic third-place finish in the Belgian Pro League, the club’s best result in six decades.
The search for a new leader follows the departure of Derek McInnes, who moved to Rangers last week. McInnes had guided Hearts to a second-place finish during the previous campaign, narrowly missing out on the league title to Celtic on the final day of the season.
Vrancken is expected to embark on his first international role after a successful career in his home country. His resume includes notable tenures at Genk, where he nearly secured a league title in 2023, and Mechelen, where he achieved promotion and a Belgian Cup victory in 2018.
