Harry Kane Surpasses Pele Goal Record in England Victory Over DR Congo

England captain Harry Kane surpassed Pele’s World Cup goal record with a brace in a 2-1 victory over DR Congo, sending his team to the Round of 16.

Harry Kane, the England captain, has officially moved ahead of Brazilian icon Pele in total World Cup goal tallies. During Wednesday’s Round of 32 match, Kane secured a 2-1 victory for the Three Lions against the Democratic Republic of Congo by netting twice.

Although Brian Cipenga gave DR Congo an early lead with a precise strike, the team managed by Thomas Tuchel responded late in the game. Kane’s two goals clinched the win and a spot in the round of 16, where the team is set to compete against co-hosts Mexico.

With these two scores, the Bayern Munich forward has reached 13 career World Cup goals, officially surpassing Pele’s historical total. Kane now stands as England’s highest-ever goalscorer in the history of the competition.
