Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has lauded the combined efforts of security agencies for the successful arrest of three individuals linked to the August 2, 2026, kidnapping at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Inoyi-Affa, Udi LGA. The operation, which involved the DSS, the Army, the Police, and the Enugu State Forest Guard, involved a shootout that resulted in the neutralization of one suspect and the seizure of four AK-47 rifles along with various ammunition.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor during a visit to the state DSS headquarters, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, confirmed that victims Lawrence Igbo and Emmanuel Onwudi have been freed and have positively identified the suspects. Prof. Onyia emphasized that the Mbah administration remains committed to maintaining a robust security infrastructure, warning that criminal activity will not be tolerated within the state.
The government issued a stern warning to anyone acting as an informant or collaborator for criminal syndicates, stating that such individuals will be tracked down and prosecuted. Officials reiterated that while the state prioritizes crime prevention, any breaches will be met with decisive action, ensuring that offenders face the full consequences of their actions under the law.
