Milo Beimers, an 18-year-old goalkeeper, is currently traveling across Europe in a converted van to secure a new professional football club. After finishing his A-Levels, the teenager left his long-time side, Glentoran, in the Irish Premiership to pursue opportunities abroad. Accompanied by his father, Kevin, Beimers has journeyed from Belfast through France and into Spain, with future plans to reach Portugal.
The pair are living and working out of a renovated transit van that previously belonged to Beimers’ sister. This nomadic lifestyle allows the young athlete to be flexible with his trial schedule, which includes various clubs across Spain and Portugal, alongside a planned visit to a team in London. Beyond the logistical benefits, the van enables Beimers to train on local beaches during his downtime.
The decision to seek out opportunities independently was intentional, as Beimers believes in taking initiative rather than waiting for offers. He holds both Canadian and Dutch passports, which simplifies the registration process for European clubs. While the ultimate outcome of his 2,000-mile journey remains uncertain, he is embracing the lack of a strict schedule and remains focused on reaching the highest levels of football, including playing against giants like Real Madrid or Barcelona.
