Gloucester-Hartpury has officially announced that Welsh forwards Bethan Lewis and Kelsey Jones will depart the club at the conclusion of the season. Both players are anticipated to continue their careers within the English top-flight division.
Bethan Lewis, who recently captained Wales throughout the Six Nations tournament, initially arrived at the club in 2018 while attending Hartpury University. She served as the team’s leader during the 2019-2020 season. Kelsey Jones, a hooker with 57 caps, concludes a seven-year tenure at Kingsholm. During her final three seasons, she contributed to the team’s successful Premiership Women’s Rugby title defenses. Joining them in their exit from the club is utility back Lizzie Goulden.
Reflecting on her time at the club, Jones expressed gratitude for her seven years in the Cherry and White jersey, noting the privilege of contributing to the team’s legacy. Lewis, who has earned 65 international caps, described her departure as a difficult decision, emphasizing how the club’s environment supported her personal and athletic growth. Both athletes indicated that they are now looking forward to pursuing new professional challenges.
