Gigi Gorgeous and Nats Getty Announce Amicable Divorce After Six Years of Marriage
YouTube star Gigi Gorgeous and LGBTQ+ activist Nats Getty have announced the end of their six-year marriage, formally filing for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court. According to the court documents, the couple officially separated on February 27, 2025, with “irreconcilable differences” cited as the cause.
Despite the separation, the pair are parting on good terms. A joint statement provided to People magazine emphasized that their relationship, while no longer romantic, remains rooted in respect and affection: “While they have decided to end their marriage, they remain friends and have the utmost love and respect for each other.”
Their relationship began in 2016 and culminated in a lavish 2019 wedding in Montecito, California, attended by celebrities and LGBTQ+ icons. The couple’s union quickly became one of the most visible queer partnerships on social media and in LGBTQ+ advocacy circles.
Gigi Gorgeous, 33, originally from Montreal, rose to fame as a beauty vlogger and influencer. She came out as a transgender woman in 2013, legally changing her name to Gigi Loren Lazzarato in 2014. Her candid YouTube journey chronicling her transition gained her a loyal following and positioned her as a major voice within the LGBTQ+ community. Today, she remains a powerhouse online with more than 2.2 million followers on Instagram and an expanding presence on TikTok.
Nats Getty, 32, heir to the Getty oil fortune and godchild of California Governor Gavin Newsom, publicly came out as a transgender man in 2021. “I stand proudly as a trans man,” Getty shared at the time. Known for his activism, art, and philanthropic efforts, Getty has long championed LGBTQ+ visibility and inclusion, particularly through his work with the LGBTQ+ youth-focused Ariadne Getty Foundation.

Under the terms of their prenup, TMZ reported that Gigi Gorgeous is entitled to spousal support.
In the wake of the announcement, both individuals have shown resilience and continued engagement in their communities. Gigi appeared radiant as the Grand Marshal at Toronto’s 2025 Pride Parade, writing: “It was such an honor to celebrate with millions of people in Toronto… Honestly it was the best Pride EVER!”
Getty, who has always emphasized the importance of Pride in his personal journey, has remained low-key but supportive in his statements.
Though no longer married, Gigi and Nats’ influence and legacy within the LGBTQ+ movement endure, reminding many of the beauty and complexity of queer love. Its highs, its heartbreaks, and its continued fight for authenticity.
