Suspected Boko Haram militants raided the Zah community in the Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, resulting in the deaths of a forest guard and three civilians. Zah has faced repeated assaults recently, primarily due to its geographic closeness to the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.
Witnesses reported that the attackers descended on the village on Monday evening, July 27. Riding motorcycles, they fired indiscriminately and ignited several homes. In addition to the four fatalities, the insurgents kidnapped a woman before an exchange of gunfire with security forces compelled them to flee.
Aliyu Saad Yerima Hong, the local government council chairman, verified the incident and noted that extra security personnel have since stabilized the area. He commended the military response for preventing further loss of life and urged the public to stay alert and report suspicious behavior to local authorities.
