Four herders and nine cows were reportedly killed in two separate attacks in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs of Plateau State on Tuesday. Five others sustained various injuries during the incidents.
These attacks happened just hours after an earlier assault that claimed the lives of seven family members in Kopmur community, Mushere District of Bokkos.
Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, Plateau State chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), stated that a gunman killed a herder and opened fire on grazing cattle, resulting in the death of nine animals.
He also confirmed that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and the state police command have been informed about the resurgence of violent attacks.
Plateau State has been facing increased violence involving herders and clashes with some local communities.
