Former Ohio State Star Julian Fleming Charged With Vehicular Homicide In Fatal ATV Crash
Former Ohio State wide receiver Julian Fleming is facing multiple criminal charges, including homicide by vehicle, following an ATV crash that claimed the life of his girlfriend, 23-year-old Alyssa Boyd.
The tragic incident occurred in May along a rural stretch near the New York-Pennsylvania border. According to police reports, Fleming, 24, was driving a Yamaha quad when a deer suddenly crossed the road, causing the crash that left Boyd with fatal injuries.
Authorities allege Fleming was intoxicated at the time, with a recorded blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .118 shortly after the crash. He now faces several felony counts homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault by vehicle, and additional DUI-related charges as well as a misdemeanor DUI count.
Fleming’s attorney, David Bahuriak, maintains his client’s innocence, arguing that the charges are excessive and unsupported by the evidence. “This is a tragic accident, not a homicide,” Bahuriak told the Daily Mail. “Julian has already endured immense pain and loss. The government’s decision to pursue these charges only deepens the suffering for both families.”
Court documents indicate that Fleming remains in county jail on $75,000 bail, which he has been unable to post. Police also confirmed that neither Fleming nor Boyd was wearing a helmet during the crash.
Fleming, who transferred from Ohio State to Penn State in 2024, later declared for the NFL Draft but went undrafted. He briefly signed with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent, though his contract was rescinded after he failed his physical.
The case is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on October 22.
