Former Anambra Governor Chris Ngige Arrested By EFCC In Abuja
The quiet of Abuja’s Justice Mohammed Bello Road was shattered when armed operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) moved in and arrested former Anambra State governor and ex–Labour Minister, Senator Chris Ngige.
Initial whispers across social media had painted a darker picture claims of a kidnapping, a vanishing in the night. But Ngige’s media aide, Fred Chukwuelobe, swept those rumours aside, confirming that the former minister is indeed in EFCC custody.
“Dr. Chris Ngige is with the EFCC. More details later,” he said, offering no further illumination on the drama unfolding behind closed doors.
For now, the EFCC has maintained a deliberate silence, leaving the reason for Ngige’s arrest suspended in the air like a question no one is yet ready to answer.
This development trails a violent episode just days earlier, when Ngige’s convoy came under attack in Anambra. Armed men opened fire, injuring several and killing a police officer. Ngige was not in the vehicle at the time, but the assault stirred tension around his security before this sudden EFCC operation added a new twist.
