Ezekwesili Confirms Continued Support for Peter Obi for 2027

Former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili has restated her support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election, citing his governing capacity and the need for structural political change.

Oby Ezekwesili, a former Minister of Education, has declared her continued backing of Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, for the upcoming 2027 presidential race. Speaking on the Arise TV program Prime Time this past Monday, the former World Bank Vice President noted that her evaluation remains consistent with the standards she set during the 2023 election cycle.

Ezekwesili emphasized that her preference for Obi is based on an assessment of governing capabilities rather than mere personality. She noted that compared to other major contenders, Obi still demonstrates superior leadership potential according to her established metrics. However, she warned against focusing exclusively on individual figures, stating that the primary goal should be improving the overall governance framework.

Addressing the state of the nation, the former minister voiced concerns regarding the erosion of human dignity and the failures of the existing political system. She firmly rejected the idea that Nigeria’s current struggles are unavoidable, arguing instead that they are the result of deliberate design. Ezekwesili urged citizens to reject this status quo and encouraged qualified individuals to engage directly in the political process at all levels to secure a better future.
