Europol and INTERPOL have solidified their commitment to combating organized crime that crosses international borders by establishing updated Joint Key Operational Priorities. These guidelines were developed by specialists to ensure a swifter and more synchronized reaction to global criminal syndicates. The updated agreement enhances cooperation in sectors such as counter-terrorism, financial crime, cybercrime, and various organized illegal activities.
Jean-Philippe Lecouffe, representing Europol, alongside INTERPOL’s Harald Arm and Stephen Fry, finalized the agreement. A joint announcement emphasized that these security leaders remain dedicated to neutralising cross-border threats. Previous successes highlighted by the partnership include Operation Global Chain, which led to 158 arrests of human traffickers and the liberation of 1,194 victims. Furthermore, Operation Pandora dismantled art trafficking rings, resulting in 80 arrests and the recovery of over 37,700 items, while Operation Custos Viridis focused on environmental crimes. These collaborative efforts span five continents, involving 71 countries and various global entities.
