Elon Musk Calls Arrest Of Ex-Judge A ‘Ridiculously Obvious Case Of Judicial Corruption’
U.S. tech billionaire Elon Musk has reacted to the arrest of former Doña Ana County Magistrate Judge Joel Cano and his wife, Nancy Cano, who were taken into custody on Thursday, April 26, for allegedly harboring an illegal migrant affiliated with a notorious gang.
Posting on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Musk called the incident a “ridiculously obvious case of judicial corruption,” adding that while most judicial corruption is severe, it often goes unnoticed.
“This is a ridiculously obvious case of judicial corruption.
The vast majority of judicial corruption is just as severe, but not as obvious,” Musk wrote.
According to Fox News, Joel and Nancy Cano face charges of evidence tampering after allegedly housing Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, an undocumented migrant suspected of being a member of Venezuela’s violent Tren de Aragua gang.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that the investigation uncovered Ortega-Lopez was originally hired by Nancy Cano to do home repair work, after which he was allowed to live in the couple’s guesthouse. Authorities reportedly found gang-related clothing, tattoos, voicemails, and text messages linking him to Tren de Aragua.
“Under President Trump, we have arrested over 150,000 illegal aliens—including more than 600 members of the vicious Tren de Aragua gang. If you are here illegally and break the law, we will hunt you down, arrest you, and lock you up. That’s a promise.”
Court records indicate that Ortega-Lopez unlawfully entered the U.S. on December 15, 2023, through Eagle Pass, Texas, without inspection or legal authorization.
