Elfyn Evans has bolstered his position at the top of the World Rally Championship standings, even though he only managed a sixth-place finish at the Delfi Rally Estonia. The Welsh driver and his co-pilot, Scott Martin, completed the 18-stage competition over two minutes behind the winner.
Sami Pajari, representing Finland alongside Marko Salminen, secured his first career victory at the event, moving him up to third place in the overall points table. Takamoto Katsuta maintained his hold on second place in the championship standings after finishing 21st in Estonia. With his recent performance, Evans has now moved 15 points clear of his closest rival.
The podium in Estonia was rounded out by Oliver Sojberg in second and Adrien Fourmaux in third. Thierry Neuville and Sebastien Ogier took fourth and fifth, respectively. Looking ahead, the teams will focus their attention on the final five events of the season, beginning with the rally in Finland scheduled for July 30 to August 2.
