Eight Tunisia Players Fail Doping Tests at 2026 World Cup

Eight Tunisia players tested positive for clenbuterol during the 2026 World Cup, though officials believe the failed tests were caused by contaminated meat.

Tunisia’s difficult 2026 World Cup campaign has encountered further complications following the discovery that several squad members, including individuals playing in the United Kingdom, tested positive for a prohibited substance.

According to Daily Mail Sport, eight members of the Carthage Eagles team provided samples containing traces of clenbuterol. This medication, which is used to open airways, is restricted by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Anti-doping authorities concluded that the positive results were almost certainly caused by contaminated food rather than an attempt to gain a competitive advantage. It is believed that the substance entered the players’ systems through meat consumed at their training camp in Mexico. While the affected players’ clubs have received notification of the findings, it is improbable that any of the athletes will be subjected to disciplinary measures.

Tunisia faced significant challenges throughout the tournament, concluding their run with defeats against Sweden, Japan, and the Netherlands.
