Egypt captain Mohamed Salah is currently uncertain for Friday’s World Cup round-of-32 match against Australia due to a hamstring injury. The 34-year-old forward was forced off the pitch during Egypt’s 1-1 draw against Iran. Following the substitution, team physician Mohamed Abou confirmed a hamstring strain via medical scans.
The Egyptian Football Association stated that Salah has started a recovery protocol. However, they provided no confirmation regarding his availability for the upcoming match in Dallas on July 3. Coach Hossam Hassan expressed optimism following the Iran match, noting that Salah described the injury as minor. Salah has a history with this issue, having previously missed three weeks in April with a similar complaint before returning for the end of the Liverpool season. In the current World Cup, the forward has recorded one goal and two assists to help Egypt advance from Group G.
