Edo ADC Faction Pulls Out of Local Government Polls Due to Integrity Doubts

A faction of the ADC in Edo has withdrawn from the scheduled local government election, citing a lack of faith in the transparency and independence of the electoral commission.

A specific faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo, directed by Mr. Kennedy Odion, has decided to boycott the upcoming local government election this Saturday. The group cited significant worries regarding the integrity and autonomy of the electoral system.

Publicity Secretary Mr. Osagiede Osaze stated that the party expressed these grievances to the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) during an Inter-Party Advisory Council session. The faction argued that the current election schedule fails to allow political parties enough preparation time as required by existing electoral guidelines.

Mr. Osaze noted that Chairman Odion believes the election outcome may be pre-determined, stating there is little reason to take part in a process that lacks genuine fairness. Despite this boycott, the faction clarified that their stance is strictly limited to this local government vote and will not influence their involvement in future contests, such as the 2027 elections.

While the faction pushed for transparent voting and fair material deployment, an anonymous EDSIEC official insisted the election will proceed as planned, dismissing concerns of malpractice while encouraging all parties to cooperate.
