DSS Warns of Imminent ISWAP Terror Attack in Ondo and Kogi States

The Department of State Services has issued a security alert over a planned terrorist attack by ISWAP on several communities in Ondo and Kogi states.

According to a confidential memo dated October 20, 2025, addressed to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, the DSS said credible intelligence confirmed the group’s plans to carry out coordinated assaults.

Potential targets include Eriti Akoko and Oyin Akoko in Akoko North-West LGA, as well as Owo town in Owo LGA.

The memo, signed by Hi Kana, Director of Security, DSS Ondo Command, warned that the insurgents had already begun surveillance on soft targets and called for heightened security to prevent any attack.

A follow-up security meeting was held on October 21 with stakeholders from Ikare and Iwaro-Oka Police Area Commands, led by Ondo State Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal. The meeting aimed to boost community cooperation and strengthen intelligence sharing to avert potential threats.

Traditional rulers, security agencies, transport unions, vigilante groups, and community leaders attended the session, pledging to support security efforts through timely information.

Lawal commended their collaboration and shared his direct contact, urging swift reporting of suspicious activities.
