Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has committed to a stronger campaign against sexual misconduct within tertiary schools, promising that those responsible will face consequences to safeguard students and educational standards. She addressed this issue while hosting officials from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), headed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joshua Ogunwole.
Oyebanji noted that ignoring such abuse only invites its return. She intends to launch a regional gender summit and conduct visits to campuses to raise awareness about gender-based violence. Her strategy includes informing students and faculty about legal risks, moral responsibilities, and gender rights.
During the visit, Prof. Ogunwole lauded the administration for its focus on stability and praised the WAOH Foundation for its aid to vulnerable groups. The university also announced that Dr. Oyebanji will serve as the guest lecturer at their 11th Convocation Ceremony in February 2027 to honor her humanitarian and social contributions.
