The U.S.-Africa Trade Commission has officially named Dr. Fakunle John Aremu as the Country Director for Nigeria. This appointment was confirmed through an official letter issued on July 10, 2026. Aremu brings more than 15 years of professional expertise in international trade, investment, and economic growth within the African continent.
Titus Olowokere, the commission’s CEO and Executive Director, signed the appointment, which also grants Aremu a seat on the Executive Committee. In this role, he will support the organization’s mission to enhance economic ties between the United States and Africa. As the regional representative, Aremu is tasked with liaising with government officials, diplomatic entities, academic institutions, and private sector stakeholders.
His new mandate involves advancing bilateral trade, tourism, and innovation while actively seeking out investment ventures and public-private partnerships. Furthermore, Aremu will oversee institutional relationship management, lead membership drives, secure donor funding, and organize various business forums. He is expected to provide regular updates regarding investment pipelines and organizational growth to ensure the success of the commission’s strategic objectives.
