Former US President Donald Trump has warned that forcing Fifa president Gianni Infantino out of office would be a significant error. Trump, who received the Fifa Peace Prize from Infantino in 2025, expressed his strong support for the leader on social media.
This defense comes as several major football governing bodies, including Uefa, Concacaf, and the Asian Football Confederation, have publicly criticized Infantino. These groups sent an open letter alleging that he violated their trust by using deception regarding the proposed Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan. This initiative sought to establish a new entity to oversee commercial and ticketing rights for major tournaments, including the World Cup, with a portion of the venture set to be sold to private investors.
Dismissing these concerns, Trump praised Infantino’s performance, specifically citing the recent World Cup co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He claimed that removing the current president would jeopardize the profitability and success of future tournaments. Spain secured the title this summer after defeating Argentina in the final.
