Donald Trump Set to Present Trophy at World Cup Final

Fifa president Gianni Infantino announced that President Donald Trump will attend the World Cup final in New Jersey on July 19 to help award the trophy.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino has confirmed that US President Donald Trump will be present at the World Cup final to participate in the trophy presentation. Although the 80-year-old leader has not attended any matches during the tournament so far, he is expected to appear at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19.

The tournament, which began on June 11, is being hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The United States is the primary host, holding 78 of the 104 total matches. Speaking to Fox, Infantino expressed his camaraderie with Trump, noting that they frequently interact and will share the stage during the awards ceremony.

Andrew Giuliani, who directs the White House World Cup task force, suggested that Trump’s absence from earlier games stemmed from a demanding agenda. The president has made various high-profile sports appearances recently, including events for the UFC and the NBA Finals. This upcoming appearance follows a notable moment last summer when Trump remained on stage during the Club World Cup trophy presentation, a move that reportedly surprised Chelsea player Reece James.
