President Donald Trump has signaled his intention to visit his golf course in County Clare for this year’s Irish Open. In a recorded message shown during the US ambassador’s Independence Day event in Dublin, Trump expressed his desire to watch Rory McIlroy and other top competitors at the Trump International Golf Links from September 9 to 13.
McIlroy, the defending champion, is scheduled to play alongside stars such as Jon Rahm, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington, and Luke Donald. Trump lauded his Doonbeg resort, describing it as an exceptional venue, and anticipated a significant event during his potential visit.
The message was shared during a gathering hosted by US Ambassador Edward S. Walsh at Phoenix Park, which was attended by approximately 4,000 guests from various sectors. Beyond the tournament, Trump emphasized the deep-rooted ties between the United States and Ireland, noting the contributions of Irish individuals to American history and the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.
