‘Disgusting Abomination’ – Elon Musk Slams Trump Megabill Following His Departure From US Government Role
Billionaire Elon Musk has slammed former President Donald Trump’s tax cut and spending legislation, describing it as a “disgusting abomination.”
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk posted Tuesday on his social platform X.
“Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” Musk added.

The legislation, officially known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” extends Trump’s 2017 tax cuts and increases funding for border security and defense priorities, while reducing spending on social safety net programs like Medicaid and food aid.
It passed the House last month and is currently under review by the Senate, which is expected to make some adjustments.
Elon Musk’s criticism came after top Republicans, including Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), pushed back on Musk’s remarks during an interview on “CBS News Sunday Morning” last week. Musk had said the bill “undermined” the work of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which he helped establish.
In response, Johnson told Fox News and NBC News that he had sent Musk a detailed text explaining the bill’s provisions.
He noted that this legislation is not a regular, all-encompassing government spending bill, but one passed through a special “reconciliation” process that allows it to bypass a Democratic filibuster in the Senate.
Johnson also pledged to quickly advance a \$9.4 billion package aimed at formalizing DOGE-related budget cuts to the United States Agency for International Development and public broadcasting. The White House plans to send this package to the Senate on Tuesday.
“It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden America [sic] citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt,” Musk said in a follow-up post.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to Elon Musk’s comments during a press briefing, addressing his criticism from the podium.
“The president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill. It doesn’t change the president’s opinion,” Leavitt said.
Last week, Elon Musk stepped back from his role as a special government employee.
