Adegoke Fayoade, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the South-West region, has promised that security forces are working diligently to rescue students and teachers abducted in Oyo State. During a visit to the Lagos State Police Command, Fayoade emphasized that authorities are prioritizing the safe recovery of the captives over discussions concerning ransom demands.
Regarding the kidnapping investigation, the DIG stated that police are not engaging with ransom requests and are instead fully committed to liberation efforts. He stressed that state agencies and government partners are coordinating closely to resolve the situation rapidly.
Beyond the rescue mission, Fayoade addressed organizational improvements within the police force. He noted that the Inspector-General of Police is focused on bolstering personnel numbers, enhancing officer welfare, and upgrading operational tools. A major component of this strategy involves integrating technology, including artificial intelligence, into investigative procedures to better track criminal activity and optimize resource deployment.
Fayoade also encouraged local police commands to increase transparency by publicly reporting their operational successes. He concluded by calling for mutual respect between citizens and law enforcement officers to foster better community relations while maintaining professional standards in crime prevention.
