Nollywood star Deyemi Okanlawon shared that he took a hiatus from the film industry in 2019 due to unhappiness with his compensation and the quality of available roles. During an appearance on the CreativiTea podcast, he detailed his struggle with the lack of professional satisfaction.
Okanlawon initially left his corporate career to dedicate himself to acting, anticipating both creative and monetary success. Instead, he encountered frustration regarding the projects he joined and the pay provided. These circumstances prompted him to leave the entertainment industry and return to a traditional office environment.
Reflecting on his decision, the actor noted that the compensation and project quality felt inadequate. He questioned the value of leaving a stable job only to participate in what he considered mediocre work. Ultimately, his lack of fulfillment led him to return to a standard nine-to-five schedule.
