Tiernan Lynch has exited his role as manager of Derry City through mutual agreement, following a difficult stretch of results. Currently holding sixth place in the Premier Division, the team has managed only a single victory in their last seven outings.
Lynch, 50, arrived in November 2024 on a three-year contract after a successful stint at Larne, where he secured consecutive Irish Premiership championships. Derry City acknowledged his dedication and professionalism in a formal statement released on social media.
Although the team invested in notable talent like James McClean, they have failed to maintain the momentum from their previous second-place finish. McClean recently expressed frustration regarding the club’s direction after their early exit from the Uefa Conference League. Mark Connolly has been appointed as the interim manager and will lead the squad against Sligo on Friday, 7 August.
